The Mercato Coperto was built in 1922 as the first cut flower market building in Europe and is now the culinary heart of Ventimiglia. In the vibrant hall, locals and French cross-border workers buy fresh food of outstanding quality – from local fruits and vegetables to Ligurian cheese and fresh fish from the Mediterranean. In contrast to the large Friday market, which mainly offers clothing and household goods, the Mercato Coperto focuses exclusively on food.
