Lemon Festival

The Fête du Citron is a unique event: Nowhere else are lemons and oranges processed into massive artworks. Every year in February, sculptures up to 11 meters high are created in the Jardins Biovès on changing themes – each individual fruit fastened by hand with rubber bands. The golden parades (Corsos des Fruits d'Or) take place on Sundays, with illuminated night parades on Thursdays. In parallel, the Orchid Festival and a craft market run in the Palais de l'Europe. At the end of the festival, citrus fruits are sold at a discount to visitors. The Menton lemon is a protected specialty – sweeter and more aromatic than ordinary lemons. Only 30 km from Airole.
