Cannes Film Festival 2026

The 79th edition of the Film Festival honors Japan as the guest country. While the festival grounds around the Palais des Festivals are reserved for accredited individuals, the glamour can also be experienced from the outside: Every evening, stars stroll down the red carpet, and the Croisette becomes a promenade of the beautiful and famous. Particularly delightful: The Cinéma de la Plage shows free movies under the open sky on the beach every evening – from classics to current premieres. The Marché du Film (May 12–20) simultaneously makes Cannes the most important film market in the world. Hotels in Cannes are fully booked and extremely expensive – Airole is a relaxed alternative with a short drive.
